The 10K Challenge

So here’s something that seems fun here at the start of the year, but will probably prove annoying in about 6 weeks. I’m suggesting a 10K challenge. No, not running for 10 kilometers (though do that if you want). I’m talking about taking 1 exercise, and committing to doing 10,000 repetitions this year.

Why 10,000? Why not? It’s a big round number that provides sufficient pride/ego/bragging when you reach it. But it’s also attainable with a little consistency. You just need to find a way to crank out roughly 200 reps a week, which feels like it is in that sweet spot of “not significant, but not daunting either.”

Personally, I think I’m going to shoot for push-ups as my chest is an area that needs improvement. But it seems like this could work for any sort of body weight exercise:

  • Squats (pick a variation or mix and match)
  • Lunges
  • Chin-ups/Pull-ups (if your elbows can survive)
  • Crunches
  • etc.

So who’s with me? The more the better and the merrier!
